IRF Quality Reporting Program

Inpatient rehabilitation hospitals and units (IRH/Us) are committed to improving the quality of care delivered to their patients, and have engaged in a variety of mechanisms for identifying quality metrics appropriate to this setting since 1985.

Since 2012, IRH/Us have reported quality measures to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) pursuant to the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Quality Reporting Program (IRF QRP) as a condition precedent to receiving full payment under Medicare.

**The FY 2024 IRF Prospective Payment System and QRP Final Rule was released on July 27, 2023. Current QRP measures beginning with FY 2024 will be posted shortly.**

AMRPA and FAIR Fund Webinar: IRF Quality Reporting Non-Compliance Penalties & Reconsideration Options

On Thursday, July 27, AMRPA and the FAIR Fund hosted an interactive webinar regarding IRF Quality Reporting Program (QRP) penalties that will take effect in the FY 2024 payment year and the opportunities available to IRFs to identify non-compliance and potentially avoid the 2% penalty through the reconsideration and appeals process. The webinar provided education about the IRF QRP program and penalty structure for failure to submit quality measure data. For members who missed the webinar, the recording and slide deck can be accessed below.
