About Spaulding Rehab Hospital
Founded in 1971, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston is one of the most prominent rehabilitation facilities in the United States and is currently ranked the 4th top rehabilitation hospital in the country by U.S. News & World Report. It is the flagship facility of the Spaulding Rehabilitation Network and part of the Continuing Care Division of Partners HealthCare which offers a full continuum of services. As the official teaching hospital of the Harvard Medical School Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Spaulding is at the forefront of research in advances in rehabilitative care.

Spaulding’s main campus is a state-of-the-art 132-bed facility in Charlestown which attained LEED Gold certification and is a national model for environmental and inclusive design. With a wide range of inpatient programs and 25 outpatient centers throughout Eastern Massachusetts, Spaulding strives to continually update and improve its programs to offer patients the latest, high-quality care through its leading, expert providers.

Spaulding has been awarded a Model Systems designation in three specialty areas- Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury and Burn Rehabilitation- by the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research. It is currently the only rehabilitation hospital in the country with all three designations and is one of only two facilities that has ever held all three designations at the same time. In addition to its patient care, teaching and research commitments, Spaulding’s mission includes a major commitment to advocacy on behalf of people with disabilities and their families.
