AMRPA Joins 370 Organizations in Support of H.R. 3107: Improving Seniors’ Timely Access to Care Act of 2019

On September 9, 2019, AMRPA signed onto a letter with 370 patient, physician, health care professional, and other health care stakeholder organizations in strong support of the bipartisan Improving Seniors’ Timely Access to Care Act of 2019 (H.R. 3107), introduced by Reps. Suzan DelBene (D-WA), Mike Kelly (R-PA), Roger Marshall, MD (R-KS), and Ami Bera, MD (D-CA).   The legislation takes an important first step in addressing some of the key issues impacting patient access to Medicare Advantage (MA).  Among other key provisions, the bill would streamline and standard MA prior authorization policies, provide new oversight and transparency regarding prior authorization denial and overturn rates, and create new beneficiary protections to ensure plans adhere to evidence-based medical guidelines in their prior authorization determinations.
