Hundreds of Medical Rehabilitation Leaders to Connect During AMRPA Fall Conference

(WASHINGTON – September 17, 2020) – For the first time, the American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association (AMRPA) will hold its Fall Educational Conference & Expo virtually. The association looks forward to welcoming its member facilities and all medical rehabilitation professionals, October 4-8, for in-depth education, expert knowledge sharing and digital networking with peers.

Highlights include the Medical Directors’ Symposium, usually offered at the AMRPA Spring Conference, a special panel on COVID-19, various educational sessions, informal roundtable discussions led by subject matter experts and interactive poster presentations. The event will focus on presenting attendees the latest and most innovative strategies in the field to help them continue providing the highest quality of care.

Attendees will hear from U.S. News & World Report’s Chief of Data Analysis Ben Harder on changes to the organization’s ranking methodology for its annual “Best Hospitals for Rehabilitation” report. During his session, Harder will describe how his team will analyze and incorporate data from CMS IRF Compare website, the American Hospital Association Annual Survey Database and other sources in its future rankings.

This year’s Patient Perspective Speaker, Laurel Dupont, PT, DPT, chief executive officer of Northshore Rehabilitation Hospital, will also take the screen to tell a unique story of duality, when, in March of this year, she became a COVID-19 patient and received the same care she oversees as a medical rehabilitation leader.

Other keynote speakers include Craig Deao, MHA, Senior Leader, Managing Director, author and national speaker of Studer Group; and Christine MacDonell, FACRM, Managing Director of Medical Rehabilitation and International Aging Services/Medical Rehabilitation at CARF International.

As special entertainment during the conference, attendees will also have the opportunity to explore the mysterious with mentalist and illusionist Vinny DePonto.

The Fall Virtual Educational Conference will culminate with the announcement of this year’s recipient of the prestigious AMRPA National Leadership Excellence Award, an association-wide recognition of individuals who have exemplified outstanding service and made significant contributions to the field of medical rehabilitation; and the Edward A. Eckenhoff Memorial Award, which honors one of the association’s founders and visionary leaders in medical rehabilitation.
