9:30 – 9:45am: Edward A. Eckenhoff Memorial Award

Established in 2018 by the American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association (AMRPA), the ‎Edward A. Eckenhoff Memorial Award & Lecture was created to honor one of the Association’s ‎founding fathers and a visionary leader in the rehabilitation field. Eckenhoff served on the ‎AMRPA Board of Directors from its founding through 2010, including serving as Board ‎Chairman in 2000 and 2001. Eckenhoff also created and chaired AMRPA’s first Consumer ‎Advocacy Committee, focusing on the needs of patients served by rehabilitation hospitals. The ‎nominee for the award and lecture should be an AMRPA member who:‎ 

  • Has demonstrated exemplary skills in the areas of administration, management, research, patient care, and education within the field of rehabilitation.‎ 
  • Has contributed invaluable mentorship to the next generation of medical rehabilitation providers.‎ 
  • Has served the field through involvement in Association activities. ‎

Anthony Cuzzola, Vice President and Administrator, HMH JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute

Anthony Cuzzola is currently the Vice President for Rehabilitation Services at Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) located in Edison NJ. He has served in this role since 2019 (when JFK Health System became part of HMH). In this capacity he also serves as the Administrator of the JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute.

He is responsible for HMH’s three comprehensive rehabilitation hospitals, hospital based and satellite outpatient services as well as the acute hospital rehabilitation services. Prior to JFK joining HMH, Anthony served as Vice President & Administrator of the JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute and also oversaw post acute services for JFK Health System. Anthony has been part of JFK HMH for over 30 years and has provided leadership for many areas in addition to rehabilitation.

Anthony is a Member At Large of the AMRPA Board having served as Chair from 2021-2023 and has been on the AMRPA Board since 2011. He has served on the AHA Regional Policy Board and is a member of the NJ Hospital Association Rehabilitation Advisory Committee. He also served as Vice Chair and Board Member for the NJ Brain Injury Alliance from 2009-2020. He also currently serves on the Board of the Metuchen, Edison, Woodbridge, South Amboy YMCA.

Anthony will be presented the award and give remarks on Tuesday, September 29 at 9:30am.
