About Us

Who We Are: American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association (AMRPA)

Mission Statement: Advancing the field of medical rehabilitation through advocacy, education, and the promotion of access to care.

AMRPA is the only national voluntary trade association representing more than 650 inpatient rehabilitation hospitals and units (IRH/Us), hospital outpatient departments (HOPDs), and other settings independent of the hospital, such as comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation facilities (CORFs), rehabilitation agencies, and skilled nursing facilities (SNFs). AMRPA members provide rehabilitation services across multiple health care settings to help patients maximize their health, functional skills, independence, and participation in society so they can return to home, work, or an active retirement.

The many legislative and policy issues AMRPA is working on include the Recovery Audit Contractor Program (RAC) and Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) activities and reviews; bundling; health care reform; 75 Percent Rule implementation and study; IRF PPS rules and criteria; ACO; Continuing Care Hospitals; annual Federal budget proposals; research and demonstration projects on the future of Post Acute Care Services, such as the Post Acute Care Payment Reform Demonstration Project (CARE tool); Medicare Physician Fee Schedule; therapy caps, and outpatient therapy payment alternatives.

To best serve our growing constituency, AMRPA offers a wide range of programs, information tools, educational activities and member benefits.

Vision Statement: Transforming lives through access to the highest quality of medical rehabilitation care.
